We are thrilled to announce that Prevent Blindness North Carolina (PBNC) has been awarded a second year of funding from the Camber Foundation to continue its work providing Sustainable Telehealth Vision Services for Economically Disadvantaged Adults in Eastern North Carolina.
This critical grant will allow PBNC to sustain and expand its Community Vision Program across Eastern NC, where many Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and clinics depend solely on our services to deliver diabetic retinal screenings. Without this support, vision care services for countless vulnerable adults could disappear entirely.
Through this renewed partnership, PBNC will continue to offer:
– Free retinal imaging at participating clinics
– Telehealth diagnoses from volunteer eye doctors
– Education for patients about diabetic eye disease and vision care
– Vouchers for free comprehensive eye exams and eyeglasses
These services are targeted toward economically disadvantaged adults, especially those managing diabetes and at high risk for vision loss.
Camber Foundation’s mission speaks directly to the spirit of this partnership: “We are committed to supporting community-driven solutions that serve the people and places of Eastern North Carolina.” Their belief in sharing the load and uplifting local, grassroots work is echoed in every aspect of PBNC’s program.
PBNC extends its heartfelt thanks to the Camber Foundation for believing in a future where everyone in Eastern NC—regardless of income—can access the vision care they need to live full, healthy lives.
