Does your child’s preschool program offer FREE vision screenings?

As summer winds down and classrooms get busy again, it’s a great time to make sure our youngest learners are ready to see, learn, and grow. Good vision is a huge part of being prepared for school, and that’s exactly what the PBNC Preschool Vision Screening Program is here for.

For over 25 years, PBNC has partnered with childcare centers, Head Start, and PreK programs across North Carolina to bring vision screenings right where kids are. The screenings are quick, safe, and non-invasive and provide teachers and parents with an important update on the eye health of their children.

The reason this matters so much is simple – kids often don’t know when they’re having trouble seeing. Without early screening, vision problems can slip under the radar and end up affecting how a child learns, behaves, and feels about school. The good news is that most vision issues in young children can be prevented or treated when caught early.

By identifying problems before they get in the way, we’re helping young kids head into the classroom and the world around them with clearer vision and more confidence. As we kick off a new school year with the goal of screening over 40,000 NC preschoolers, we encourage childcare centers to contact us for a free vision screening—it’s one of the best ways to give children a bright, healthy start!
